The Mirror dinghy version of the Transition rig had its first outing on 30th November 1999 (Teign estuary, high tide, wind force 2-3). Generally the rig worked well - none of the components broke! - although some of the controls need improving to make them easier to use when sailing...

the degree of extension of rig and its forward/aft tilt can be tuned during use as required. During tacking and gybing the middle segments of the mast are rotated across to the appropriate side to ensure that the lower part of the sail has a good aerofoil shape. Other controls on the dinghy are conventional.
